My Story
After losing relatives to cancer, that have taken care from Willowbrook, I have been planning on raising funds for some years.
For years I have been planning many events for the feature and now it's time to embark upon them, doing so I'm hoping to produce as much donations as possible, for a much needed local hospital.
Now as a personal trainer in st helens, I have worked with and lost a client to cancer, and have current clients that have relatives with cancer.
We need to support local hospitals like ours.
Willowbrook Hospice provides specialist palliative care for individuals aged 17 and over who are living with life-limiting illnesses. While approximately three-quarters of their patients have cancer, they also support those with other serious conditions such as motor neurone disease, end-stage heart failure, and chronic lung failure.
The hospice focuses on short-term care, typically a couple of weeks, for patients with complex needs. Their aim is to manage symptoms effectively, provide psychological and emotional support, and assist with complex discharge planning. Over 50% of inpatients are discharged back to their preferred place of care, often their own homes
In addition to inpatient services, Willowbrook offers outpatient clinics, therapy services, and outreach programs to support patients in the community. Their holistic approach addresses not only physical symptoms but also emotional, spiritual, and social needs, ensuring comprehensive care for both patients and their families .
Referrals to Willowbrook Hospice are typically made by healthcare professionals such as GPs, hospital consultants, or district nurses. The hospice serves the communities of St Helens, Knowsley, and surrounding areas, providing compassionate care tailored to each individual's needs.
