My Story

For those of you who may not know me, I’m Lauren and I am a nurse at Willowbrook Hospice.

I have been working at Willowbrook for over six years now and can honestly say it is a privilege.

Palliative care is a rewarding career in any setting but the Hospice itself to me, is something very special.
The amazing team of staff and peaceful environment have made Willowbrook a warm, inviting, safe place to be. It is unlike any other care facility and we are incredibly lucky to have it.

At Willowbrook Hospice we provide FREE specialist care to people living with life limiting illnesses and their families in the communities of St Helens & Knowsley. Its costs over £5 million to run the Hospice each year and only 1/3rd of this is provided by Government Funding.
The remaining 2/3rds is dependent on our fundraising events, campaigns and the support of remarkable people within our local communities.

As a charity, fundraising is vital for us to continue our work in caring for our patients and their loved ones, which is why in just a few short months I will be Skydiving for Willowbrook.
I have never jumped out of a plane before, nor am I a big lover of heights. I expect this will be a psychological challenge which gets harder as it leads up to the big day, but will make a great experience to tick off my own life bucket list whilst raising funds.

Wish me luck!
